The RMYC has hosted sail racing for nearly 100 years and the tradition is continued to this day with active involvement in the International Paint Poole Regatta and a number of racing series run from the club for a wide variety of keel boat classes.
Those taking part are in the main recreational racers, although several are top class helms who, although regularly enter large national events, also enjoy the cut and thrust of club racing. All those taking part, at whatever level, are looking for enjoyable, competitive racing in the club environment.
If you enjoy racing but prefer to stay ashore, we are always looking for gun deck helpers to assist in race organisation. At the start of the season, we provide a short course for the Gun Deck helpers. If you are new to the sport, it is a quick and easy way to get involved and enjoy being part of the gun deck team, raise a flag, fire a cannon, or just spot the boats it an exciting way to enjoy the atmosphere and the fantastic views from the Gun Deck.
For those who do not have a boat or own a motor boat and would like to try sailing, the club has a number of small sailing craft for hire, 6 Pico single handers and 2 Hartley family dinghies. These can be booked via the club office.
